How it works

Every duck has a story. Every duck you find, and every duck you hide again, adds a page to it.

  1. Find a duck

    QuackPort ducks are hidden in plain sight: on a pool deck, a library shelf, a hotel lobby, a port-side bench. Each one carries a serial number and a QR code. If you spot one, it's yours to play with.

  2. Scan its code

    Point your phone's camera at the QR code on the duck. It opens that duck's log page, ready for your find. No app to install.

    Camera not cooperating?

    It's printed with the QR code. Typing the short link from the tag into your browser, like quackport.com/d/DKL-1A2B3C, works too.

  3. Log where you found it

    On the log page, tell us where you are (GPS or type a place, or pick your ship if you're at sea) and add a note or a photo if you like. Then scan the duck once more, or type its code, to show it's in your hands. Your stop is stamped into the duck's passport, and its owner gets a message that their duck was found.

    You can log as a guest. A free account keeps your finds on your profile, earns points and puts you on the leaderboard.

  4. Hide it again

    This is the step that keeps the game alive. Leave the duck somewhere new for the next person to discover, then watch its passport as it moves on. You can't log the same duck twice in a row, so it has to travel before it comes back to you.

    Hiding on a ship?

    Pick somewhere visible and harmless, and follow your cruise line's rules.

    • Choose public spots where a duck won't be mistaken for a lost item or a security concern.
    • Keep clear of lifeboats, safety equipment, crew areas and anywhere restricted.
    • Never damage anything to hide or reach a duck, and be kind to crew and other guests.
