Why QuackPort Exists
QuackPort started from something simple β the joy of finding a hidden duck on a cruise ship.
Cruise ducking is a fun tradition where travelers hide small rubber ducks around cruise ships and ports for others to discover. Finding one often brings a smile, a laugh, and sometimes even a new friend. A small duck can travel from person to person, ship to ship, and sometimes even across the world.
But there has always been one problem.
Most duck tracking methods rely on paper tags attached to the outside of the duck. Over time those tags can fall off, get wet, fade, or become damaged. When that happens, the duck's story disappears and its journey can no longer be followed.
That's where QuackPort began.
I wanted a way for ducks to have a digital passport and travel history β so every time someone finds one, they can see the journey it has taken and add to its story.
QuackPort gives every duck a unique QR code that links to its own digital passport. When someone finds a duck, they simply scan the code to see where it has traveled and log where they discovered it before hiding it again for the next traveler.
What starts as a simple toy becomes something more β a shared travel adventure.
QuackPort isn't a large company or a mass-produced product line.
It's a personal project that combines travel, technology, and a love for the fun moments that cruise ducking creates.
Every duck is personally prepared and processed by me. From generating the QR codes to assembling the ducks and preparing them for their journey, each one is handled individually to make sure it's ready to travel.
The goal isn't just to sell ducks.
The goal is to create a way for people around the world to share small moments of discovery, fun, and connection β while keeping the story of each duck alive.
- Some ducks might travel across a single ship.
- Others might move from cruise to cruise, across oceans, and around the world.
My hope is that one day QuackPort ducks travel across ships, countries, and continents β creating a global story written by the people who find them.
Because every duck's journey is built by the community that discovers it.
