QuackPort is hide and seek with rubber ducks. Every QuackPort duck carries a serial number and a QR code. When you find one, you scan it, log where you found it and hide it again, and over time the duck's passport builds a travel history of every place and person that has been part of its journey.

Yes. Finding ducks, logging finds, browsing the chart and creating an account are all free. The only thing that costs money is buying your own ducks from the store.

No. Anyone who finds a duck can log it as a guest after a quick "I'm human" check. A free account keeps your finds on your profile, earns points and puts you on the leaderboard. Finds you logged as a guest on the same phone move to your account when you sign up.

Scan the duck's QR code with your phone camera. It opens the Log page for that duck. Tell us where you are (use GPS, type a place, or pick your ship if you're at sea), add a note or a photo if you like, and scan the duck's code once more (or type the code printed on it) to confirm it's in your hand. That's it: your stop is stamped into its passport.

Camera won't read the QR? Type the code printed on the duck instead and you'll land on the same Log page.

Just tap submit again once you're back online. A retried submit can't file the same find twice, so there's no harm in trying.

The game is to pass the duck on. Once you've logged a duck it needs to be found by someone else before you can log it again, which keeps each journey genuine.

Most finds appear straight away. A find with a photo or a message can be held for a quick review when we can't confirm it, for example when the duck wasn't scanned while logging. Scanning the duck's code on the Log page is the surest way to publish instantly. Reviews usually happen within 24 hours.

The scanner needs camera permission. If it isn't working:

• Allow camera access when your browser asks.
• On iPhone Safari, tap the aA button in the address bar, open Website Settings, set Camera to Allow, then reload.
• Use your phone's own camera app: most recognise QR codes directly.
• Still no luck? Type the code printed on the duck (like DKL-1A2B3C), or type the short link printed with it (like quackport.com/d/DKL-1A2B3C) into your browser. Both open the duck's Log page, where Can't scan? Type the code instead confirms the find without the camera.

On the Log page, turn on the cruise-ship option and pick your voyage. QuackPort places the find on your voyage and plots the ship's ports of call on the duck's route, so you can follow it on the live chart.

Please follow your cruise line's rules. Hide ducks in visible, harmless public spots, keep clear of lifeboats, safety equipment and crew areas, and never damage anything to hide or reach a duck.

No. QuackPort is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any cruise line or maritime operator.

Order them from the store. Each duck comes with its own serial number, QR code and passport page. Once your order ships you'll receive an activation link to claim your ducks.

When your order ships we email you an activation link. Open it while signed in, or go to Activate and paste the code from the email. Your ducks then appear in My Ducks and their passports go public.

Email support@quackport.com with your order number and we'll resend it.

You earn points for approved finds, for being the first person to find a duck, and for achievements. The leaderboard shows the top finders.

Points raise your badge tier, and higher tiers unlock a discount in the store. Points have no cash value and can't be transferred or sold.

Check your spam folder first. If it isn't there, request a new one on the Resend verification email page.

From your account settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent. Your personal details are removed, but your finds stay on the ducks' passports anonymously so their journeys stay intact. See the privacy policy for details.
