The Basics
What is QuackPort?
QuackPort is a rubber duck tracking platform. Each physical QuackPort duck carries a unique QR code.
When someone finds a duck they scan the code, log where they found it, and send it on its way.
Over time the duck builds a travel history showing every city, country, and person that's been part of its journey.
Is QuackPort free to use?
Logging duck finds and browsing the map is completely free. Creating an account is free.
The only cost is if you want to purchase your own QuackPort ducks from the store to release into the wild.
Do I need an account to find a duck?
You can view any duck's public travel history without an account. To log a find β adding your
location to the duck's journey β you'll need to create a free account and verify your email.
Finding & Logging Ducks
How do I log a duck find?
When you find a QuackPort duck in the wild, scan the QR code on the duck using your phone's camera
or the scanner on the duck's page. You'll be taken to the Log page where you can enter your location,
leave a message, and optionally attach a photo. Hit submit and your stop is added to the duck's journey!
Why can't I log the same duck twice in a row?
To keep the adventure going, you can't log the same duck twice in a row. Once you've logged a duck,
it needs to physically move on to someone else before you can log it again. This keeps the journey
genuine and prevents the same person from inflating a duck's travel count.
Why is my sighting "pending approval"?
Sightings that include a photo or message are held for a quick admin review before appearing publicly.
This helps keep the platform friendly and accurate. Plain location-only logs are approved automatically.
Reviews usually happen within 24 hours.
The QR scanner isn't working on my phone. What do I do?
The scanner requires camera permission and a secure (HTTPS) connection. If it's not working:
- Make sure you've allowed camera access when prompted.
- On iPhone/Safari: tap the lock icon in the address bar β Camera β Allow, then reload.
- Try using your phone's built-in camera app to scan the QR code directly β most cameras recognize QR codes natively.
- You can also search for the duck's serial number manually on the Find a Duck page.
Buying Ducks
How do I get my own QuackPort ducks?
Visit the Store to order custom rubber ducks. Each duck comes printed
with a unique QR code and serial number linked to a profile page on QuackPort. Once your order ships
you'll receive an activation link to claim your ducks.
How do I activate ducks I've purchased?
After your order ships you'll receive an email with an activation link. Click it (or visit
quackport.com/Activate and enter your code) to claim ownership of your ducks.
Once activated they'll appear in your "My Ducks" page and be publicly visible.
What happens if I lose my activation email?
Contact us at support@quackport.com with your order details
and we'll resend the activation link.
Points & Achievements
How do I earn points?
You earn points by logging approved duck finds, being the first person to find a duck, and completing
achievements. The Leaderboard shows the top explorers.
What can I do with points?
Points can be applied as discounts on QuackPort store purchases. They have no cash value and
can't be transferred or sold.
Cruise Ships
How does cruise ship tracking work?
If you find a duck on a cruise ship, you can select your ship when logging the find. QuackPort tracks
active cruise voyages and can automatically plot the ship's port-of-call itinerary on the duck's
travel map. It's a great way to show a duck traveled through multiple countries on a single voyage.
Is QuackPort affiliated with any cruise line?
No. QuackPort is entirely independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with any
cruise line or maritime operator. Always follow your cruise line's policies when hiding or finding ducks.
Accounts & Privacy
I didn't receive my verification email. What do I do?
Check your spam folder first. If it's not there, you can request a new one on the
Resend verification email page.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from your account settings page. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Your personal information is removed but your duck sighting logs are preserved anonymously so the
ducks' journeys stay intact. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
